I tried them a year ago..only thing I got was Green finger’s and Green carpet…Give me a crawler any day..But I prefer Brown ones…I also have tried Dyeing minnows more mess and the color can last a long time on your skin.. My personal opinion it’s a good gimmick to catch fishermen have never found it to improve catching…my pennies worth..

Not to change the subject but I did the minnow thing and you are right nothing but a mess but I can say that once in awhile I will use some minnows called rosey reds and they do seem to work oncertian days

The rosey reds are a prefferred bait here in SE ia. for eyes and crappie. Lots of farm ponds have been converted to raising them. Haven’t tried the green crawlers.

I like the Berkley PowerBait nightcrawlers, you don’t get green fingers…..heck you don’t even need to put them in the fridge.

My favorite color is the pumkinseed with the orange head.

The colored crawlers do work on the river…. just no better than the good old-fashioned brown variety. At least that’s been my findings anyway.

In situations where the water is really clear, like up to Mille Lacs Lake, I’ve personally seen a couple instances when the tinted crawlers outproduced the regulars. Maybe in that cleaer water that little bit of “funky green” color is just enough to result in a few extra bites.

I’d have to agree with James. I’ve seen them catch quite a few fish on the Big Pond when the bite on normal crawlers is slow.

They are a mess though, that’s for sure.
