I stopped in at Evert’s resort in redwing today and picked up one of these rods. I got the 68MXF and paired it with a pflueger arbor. I was extremely impressed with the action of this rod. At only $110 this rod performs alot like a avid. I also had my first chance to try out the new sufix 832 braided line. This line casted extremely well with light weight jigs. The line uses gore fibers to help with water retention which is great for spring and fall fishing. When I started fishing the air temp was 24 degrees and I had no problem with the line icing up. I will definitely be putting this line on the rest of my rods.

Thanks for the post! I got a spool when I left Everts last trip but have not had a chance to fish it yet. I will next weekend on the Pool.
I also am going to test drive a couple Eyecons. A couple guys have posted they feel and fish like a 180$ Avid…If this is the case they will sell like crazy…@ 100.
I hope to do a report by early next week…pitchin Moxies & K Grubs on 832 Sufix with an Eyecon 68MXF & 63MXF.November 2, 2010 at 9:30 am #907430I used the 832 Sufix yesterday also and was VERY happy with it.Going to go pitch it some more today I liked it so much.

The 180 Avid is built here in America,vs. the 109 Eyecon,I think the extra 70 might be a worthwhile step up in quality, workmanship and lifetime warranty. worth consideringNovember 2, 2010 at 9:03 pm #907555Gill-Eye…I understand and support the idea of buying American…but my Toyota Tundra was built in California…all my Chev and Ford 4X4s were built in Mexico or Windsor Canada…Buck knives have been made in China for over 20 years…
I think the bigger question may be “Where does the money go?”. The biggest purveyor of foreign goods in this country is Walmart. You ask me to stop buying there and I am with you 100%! Their store/properties are leased by overseas companies and little of the money stays here in the USA. They do offer several workers low paying jobs though.
Practically every tackle/rod company in this country either uses foreign parts, has foreign assembly plants, or is owned, at least in part by foreign interests…Heck, my new Red Wing boots arent even made in Minnesota…November 2, 2010 at 9:42 pm #907564I just want to tell our fellow sportsman to support American workers, luckily we still have a choice here for a while. Our money is going across the border to much. November 2, 2010 at 9:51 pm #907567Dom & Stuart, thanks for updating & reporting in on your findings of the line & rod. We appreciate it!
November 2, 2010 at 10:33 pm #907579The Suffix braid is smooooooth, I tested it last weekend wow,i got home and tried my rod with a popular braid, sounded like I was running sandpaper though it Suffix is going on them, Dean set me up with a roll or two
November 3, 2010 at 11:24 am #907631Suffix braid is extremely smooth line, although it is made in Tawain and marketed by a Swiss company I will still be putting it on my China made Pflueger reels…..oh wait I already did
If you are looking for a smooth, long casting and so far for me tangle free line Suffix 832 has been a top notch performer, glad you got some in DeanO
November 4, 2010 at 12:40 pm #907901Does the Suffix 832 cut into your top eye of the rod? I used to use fireline and that has cut grooves in my eyes on the rod before especially the top one.

I think as more people use this line, we will be able to get some real use reports. I think that the line is so new that there are not enough people that have actually put a seasons worth of hours on it.FDR
November 4, 2010 at 10:46 pm #908031I have fished it for nearly a year…as I had the opportunity to field test the product before it hit the market.Good stuff IMO.
