    Hello,

Me and a couple buddies hit pool2 today, we were on the water and fishing by 9am. We had the first walleye by 9:15 and by 10 we had 10 landed, most were small in that 12-16 inch range with one in the low 20 inch range and I manage a healthy 28incher. After the first hour our bite slowed so we moved to another spot and managed 6 more smaller ones 2 were saugers. Along with the walleyes we caught a few whitebass, couple small channels, a small crappie and of course way to many sheephead. All our fish were caught on jigs tipped with nightcrawlers or fatheads, most were caught on nightcrawlers including the 28 incher. Caught fish from 5 fow to 18 fow.

Launched out of 494, dock is still messed up but the left side is fine with plenty of room. Also there are several channel buoys that are no where near where they are suppose to be but didn’t see any that were not easily visible.

    Take care everyone!

    Sponds like a good trip!

Funny you mention crawlers. Two days ago I dumped out my last 2-3 dozen crawlers in the garden.

Crawlers is one thing we didnt try much over the weekend Jon. Sounds like a pretty good trip. Looks like those fish are safe from me until next week.

Fishing was real good in the morning today and the bite lasted until noon…then I struggled to catch a few more during high skies. The river has cleaned up real nice. Most of the debris was gone today and there wasn’t as many trees coming down. Caught around 15.

Jason, is it still primarily a crank bite or are you seeing fish on jigs? It looks like I might actually be able to sneak out later this week and get some much needed river time!

They were taking whatever I was throwing. I was using the crank to locate fish and then I would switch to a jig and they would eat that too. I caught fish on cranks, big creek chubs, and big plastic.

The fishing that day was very sunlight dependent. At one point just before the sun came over the bluff it was nuts. I hauled in a 22 and got her unhooked. I let the jig fall over the side of the boat while I turned around, taped out the fish, and released her. When I turned around and picked up my rod I had another 22 inch walleye on! The jig was just swimming a foot and a half under the water. When the sun hit the water it was over.

I caught a couple of nice smallmouth for P2 and also a couple of huge stripers. Everything is starting to show the fall belly too.

Thanks Jason. If I make it out I’ll be sure to share anything I find out.

Kaylins, and hair jigs have been cathing fish. Lots of #’s on crank baits lately but the quality of the fish have been much better on the jigs. Been having to go heavy too. 5/16th in the fast water. And they like there water fast the last couple time out!!!

Glad to hear they are going on jigs. I may need to try to get back down there this week.
