Pool 14 continues to be challenging

We spent a few hours on pool 14 this morning, very depressing. The water is very dirty, maybe 5 inch visibility and lots of grass. We did put 4 small fish in the boat pitching shallow sand points with one-eyes. The wingdam bite was non-existent not even a bite on several good dams. I don’t know why the river is as dirty as it is, it has been dry the last couple weeks for the most part. I sure hope it cleans up soon, I’m ready for some good Fall fishing. I did not see many boats out this morning, that is usually a good indicator of a poor bite. Well it has to get better soon.

Pretty slow in Pool 16 for my boat also. Fished some fantastic looking spots with few results. Four inch visibility. Flow seemed fast on wingdams. Water levels are starting to come down. I must say it was a beautiful day on the water.

Well I must say that we fared well. Ended up with 4 fish in the box and two slots. It was a pretty decent day. Not great, but not a waste of time. Just getting warmed up for the Saugerama in a month

We were out on Sat.. Caught three fish. One at 24″ one at 26″ and a 12″ sauger. Yes, Jigfan, you were right. The water was dirty and LOTS of grass coming down. We also caught all of our fish shallow. But when they hit, they about took the rod out of your hand. We fished about a half dozen good wingdams with no luck. The guys at R&R said some of this is still because of the dike break in New Delhi. Guess we’ll have to go above the Maqokata River? River is still falling and if the wind blows a little, it might blow some of that grass up on the bank.

. It’s always nice to meet a fellow ido member on the river. I hope that maybe this fall you can show me a thing or two up in Genoa take care and I hope we can do some more fishing on pool 14.

Fished pool 14 Friday afternoon and yes fishing was poor. Went up river to Pool 12 and 13 on Sat and Sunday. Much cleaner and fishing was much better. Casting cranks

Based upon the flow rates at LD #13 it has been a very BIG challenge. Look how 2009 compares to 2010.
    2009 2010
    8-1 27,193 101,870
    8-8 20,273 67,483
    8-15 31,502 77,804
    8-22 36,491 100,490
    8-29 58,619 73,369
    9-1 43,646 64,487
    9-8 28,840 59,213
    9-15 20,730 54,558

At elast it’s going down , just very fast.

    Have a great
