The grass has really improved on pool 14 and the level has come down. It still is dirty and the flow is seems high, but you can almost fish the wingdams.

Hopefully it continues to improve and the long weekend should not be half bad.

    Have a great day

I was out on Pool 8 on Monday and it is clearing up here nicely – a lot better than it was two weeks ago. The one thing I noticed is many of our favorite crappie snags are all covered and congested with the “stuff” that was being flushed. It is looking much better which is great news for fall fishing.

I was out yesterday afternoon it still looked like tons of crap coming down the river to me. The IL side was not bad, but the IA side was terrible. With northern IA getting pounded with rain Tuesday night I think it got the junk floating again. The levels are not to bad , but the bite SUCKS. I fished some of the better dams in the pool for this water level with out a bite. I have been skunked the last 2 trips in pool 14, those are the only zero’s I have had in 2010. This is a tuff time of the year, and with the water being messed up the bite is just terrible. I guy might be able to pull a few small fish in the pits if you put some time in there. With the extended periods of high water those fish in the pits have been beat up pretty bad. There is just so much bait this year , it is tuff to compete with. I hope with the cooler temps coming it will get them back in the eating mood. I will be pre-fishing pool 16 again tomorrow. I’ve got a few fish going down there I hope they will still be there Sunday. Bring on October ,I’m so ready for the fall bite to begin.

Not to ruin your good lookout for the weekend but Im on Pool 12 and the weeds are horrible again right now. So they only have one direction to go. South! Hope this all passes and we can have a great clean fall bite!
