Well I don’t want to speak too soon, BUT things may be starting to turn around. I talked to quite a few people that were out today and there were quite a few people catching 40-50-60 fish again. The size still remains small for the most part, but it is a start maybe. A couple of boats actually caught 50+ WALLEYE, not sauger. That’s a good sign, as it has been almost exclusively sauger all winter. Hopefully thats a sign of better days coming soon!! I know these people and they do know the difference b/w sauger and walleye in case you’re skeptical. Today was actually a great day for catfish too. Many boats were catching channels and flatheads. The flatheads were actually biting too. I know there is a big controversy over snagged vs biting flatheads in the wintertime, but I do trust the people that reported this as well. Maybe i’m too gullable (sp?) but anyways some people caught “a lot” of catfish today.
It looks like just when the walleye are starting to bite, we’re gonna get dumped on with snow! Oh well. So long story short……Not many keeper fish being caught yet, but A LOT more walleye and a lot more fish overall than in the previous weeks. Maybe, just maybe the 15-18 inchers will start biting again. Thanks and good luck.
