Anyone know if the back channel is still runnable? The boy said it was fine on Monday but I need to run it this Saturday.

Is it doable—-my prop guy needs the work so if anyone is running it then I will give it a go. It is those times when I am the only one dumb enough to even try that get me.
June 3, 2010 at 1:19 pm #876989As of yesterday there was only 18 inches of water around the sand bar. Polished my prop good yesterday. Main channel is the safest bet right now.
June 3, 2010 at 1:38 pm #877001Thanks Mule, that is what I was looking for. 18 inches is really not enough for this old guy so I better go to Plan B. Gosh I wish I had a Plan B
June 3, 2010 at 10:32 pm #877161i would stick with the main channel as well unless you hunting for a motor i know know a guy that made a tight turn and didnt have his clamps tight and now there is a twenty hp evinrude sitting back there somwhere i have not been out to look for it but maybe
June 4, 2010 at 3:01 am #877202Just my luck I would find it with my prop. I have hit everything else back there. I think I will make a practice run through there tomorrow afternoon just to see if it is runnable. I have a reputation to live up to and I haven’t wrecked a prop in over a month—I’m due

Rich,
Slow down and float across-save the pr op!
Oh come on Doc!
I think the true ‘Redneck’ thing to do would be to see if you can’t get that Lund to jump the Sandbar!
June 4, 2010 at 3:23 pm #877334Ask my boy Pete—I tried plowing a trough through it one year. The guys at Four Season had a sandbar in their driveway by the time they got all the sand out of my motor. Floating over it just goes against my illogical mind. I think I will try it this afternoon just to see. The boy told me if I don’t make it the first time to back up and hit it faster the next time—who taught that kid such crazy ideas
June 4, 2010 at 10:11 pm #877476Ask Randy to show Junior the pictures of the time we hit it at 35 MPH and stopped dead. That should cure him. Dry sand on either side of the boat is mighty disconcerting, not for the faint of heart.
June 5, 2010 at 3:53 pm #877576You guys just keep trying to run it. The sandbar is right in front of our dock now and I love to sit out there on a lawn chair with a beer and watch.
June 6, 2010 at 5:13 am #877640BREAKING NEWS!
You’ll never hear it anywhere else! I’ve been offered money not to report this!
The Redneck boat left the Everts dock tonight just before dark…with stink bait!!
We all knew you would come around Rich!
June 6, 2010 at 10:09 am #877621Hey, aren’t you supposed to cut off a thumb or three for breaking that super secret agent oath of silence?
You cad!!!!!!!!!!!!June 7, 2010 at 12:51 am #877732First of all—I ran the Back Channel both ways on Friday but it is getting close. I did destroy a prop out on Bay City Flats following the advice a certain boy gave me. I did not have stink bait in the boat Brian but the dead creek chubs from todays walleye fishing were candy to the channels. We had nonstop action for the couple hours we were out with nothing over 8 pounds or so. We did have one hit on the last live chub but it dropped it after a short run. That cat fishing is just to easy—guess I better go back to chasing walleyes so I can have a challenge.
June 7, 2010 at 1:37 pm #877808I did some minimal prop dusting on saturday through there. Sunday I idled through that area.
June 8, 2010 at 4:30 pm #878230It is surprising how fast sand can stop a person at 20 mph. If I only missed the right spot by 5 feet.
Glad I had extra socks along.
