My wife and I are heading out tomorrow to try some fishing up your way. I’m not real sure where we will be fishing, so which town should I be looking at? I have found openings in both Red Wing and Pepin. What do you guys think? Lake City is way too high
    Thanks

Red Wing is about 6 miles from the head of the lake and 6 miles to the dam area.

Talking with a local guide or two the other day, the head of the lake is putting out fish.

Don’t forget to stop in at Everts for the latest bite conditions….and say Hi! to my Favorite Daughter.

Red Wing is a neat little town. You and your wife should enjoy it.

I stay in Redwing every time we come up to pool 4. We stay at the Parkway on the west end, rooms are $56.00 for two people. The rooms are clean just not up to date. We fished head of lake this weekend and did very good long lining #5 flicker shads.

    Hey Randy,

You rent that ‘really nice cabin by Everts’? Just saw your post, the family and I are always looking for quick little get aways….

My buddy and I always stay at the Days Inn next to the prison. If you use the Colville (spelling?) Park ramp you will be from the hotel to the water in under 10 minutes and about equal distance from Pepin and Evert’s. Jay or as we call him “Radar” (he looks like Radar O’Reily from M.A.S.H. if Radar was from India) is the owner and is very accommodating to fishermen with boats. The place hasn’t been updated but its clean and the free breakfast is nice before you hit the water.

Bob, the cabin is owned by Randy Johnson…not River Rat Randy although they are friends.

That cabin is rentable daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

I have a post with some photo’s of the inside here someplace. I’ll look for them. It’s pretty comfortable.

We ended up staying in Red Wing. You Pool 4 guys are so spoiled, the fish were loving cranks early then live bait later. Stopped in to see Dean but he was taking a much needed vacation. Now that place is out in the middle of no where.
