I’m taking the wife and son down to p4 this Saturday. I want them to catch some fish. They don’t have to be eyes but I wouldn’t complain if they were. Any suggestions from you guys who fish it quite a bit on what presentations I should use to keep her busy? Trolling, draggin, jiggin?

    Thanks,

The dragging bite has been pretty good for my boat lately and that is a pretty easy bite for the lady to master. You can never go wrong trolling cranks though. I would suggest that if you drag live bait to make sure you have some leeches in the boat—they have been pretty consistent producers lately.

I will talk to Dean or who ever else may be running the shop. I guess that is kind of a given. I have never been down there this time of year so I wanted to get some ideas on what seems to be working before I get there so I can read up on the presentations working.. Thanks for the advice guys.

When trolling the cranks do I need to use the 3 way set up and floating raps? I have the bible and a bunch of other cranks I just don’t use em much.

Long lining some flicker shads and or jsr5 jointed shad raps will put fish in the boat for ya. I also would have the dragging jigs at the ready to pinpoint more specific fish holding areas.

Dragging jigs tipped with crawlers or leeches will put good numbers of walleye in the boat right now. On yesterdays trip I fished with two other guys and had exactly 50 walleye in the 17″-25″ range. 22 of those walleyes were over 20 inches. 2′-6′ of water was best for us in the area I was targeting.

Make sure you guys take plenty of bait. The shephead will clean you out if the walleye bite is slow.

Cranks should produce also put i never had the chance to pull them yesterday.

Fished p-4 today 6 till about 2 pm 2 of us caught 63 walleye-saugers. We got 10 between 15″ and 19″ for the frypan for our families. We got 7 over 20″ the biggest going 24″ all swimming again. The rest were 14.5 and under. We pulled 3-way and live bait. Come about noon they somewhat shut-off. A great day to be on the water.
