Well since there hasn’t been a brave soul venture out the last three days, I thought I might as well see how the fishing is myself! There were a few snow flurries about 2pm…….no big deal. Well I got on the water about 4:45 and by that time it was snowing pretty good. I started out jigging a twister tail in 10-15 ft by the sand shoreline below the y on the WI side. After only about 5 minutes of fishing I had caught a keeper walleye and a small sauger. Then I had a “real good hit”. I thought I had finally got that BIG walleye. Well after a long, careful, exciting battle……..I boated a 37 inch carp!!! Not what I expected. That thing was huge! Anybody know roughly what that weighs???? After that I fished the vermillion wing dam area and caught 4 sauger, 2 of which were keepers. After dark I picked up another 17 in. walleye dragging a ringworm on the bottom in 6 foot in the sand. So in the short outing I had 4 keeper fish and some small sauger and my “trophy” carp! It was actually a great evening on the water. The snow flakes were so big and the eagles were soaring around up there…….It was really neat to see. I was the only boat up there. If I would have had motor trouble I could have built a snow fort in my boat for shelter!!
Anyway…….nothing too fast and furious, but had a great time. Looks like my morning will be spent plowing snow! Cya later.
