The first Walleye Searchers Tournament of the season was Sunday and could not believe it was 31 degrees at take off. 15 minutes into the tourney I set the hook on the first fish of the day and snapped my rod right in half and the Chinese fire drill began. After my partner took the net apart and figured out how to get it back together he scooped her up and we had a good start. We decided after we netted our 5th fish 4 1/2 hours in that it was getting hot and we were going to call it a day. We had 5 fish between 27.5 and 28.75 lbs for 41.25 lbs. All but 1 of our fish came on bait and the fish are a lot deeper than I would normally find them this time of year. You Lake Pepin guys get ready the fish are on the move fast and most of them are not spending much time in the river. Although we did not get our fish trolling I heard a rumor that they might be ready to eat a crank. Like to thank Denver for the best 4 1/2 hours I’ve had in a while.
Before I get posts that it is not good to hold a walleye vertically I understand. It is not every day you get 4 quality fish for a picture.
