So how do you hook your minnow,
Jighead – I puy the hook in the mouth down the throat and up through the back.
Hair jig – through the eyes.
Bare hook – through bottom jaw and through the skull.
Floating jig head – through the skull the through the bottom jaw.

Similar to what you do, but to add, on a rig I put it just under the dorsal fin making sure not to hit the back bone.

Don’t hook them at all just leave them in the bait tank.
when jigging i put hook through the mouth and out through the gills, now slide the minnow up the hook as far as you can so it looks like he is trying to take a bite out of the jig head then bend minnow a little so you can put the hook through its side doing this it places the hook farther down the body, and the minnow still has a good presentation stays on better and prevents misses by short strikes a little bit almost like a stinger because hook is alot closer to tail of minnow than if you were to hook it through the head.

I’ll tell ya , the last couple of years I have stuck with the plastics and hair alone, but so far this year I bought some minnows again and with the hair jigs it has been at least 2 to 1 in favor of meat on it, Also seeing marks on the graph, nothing on plastic but drop down the old stand by jighead/minnow and pickup a couple fish at least.
One more, the 2 fish over 20″ so far, I drifted a hairjig naked through there & nothing, then same drift while adding a minnow and boom, with a couple keepers to go with it.
So i think I’m back to meat but will keep trying other ideas.
