Pool 2 Walleye Pictures Needed

Does anybody have any walleye pictures from Pool 2 from the last couple years, say of 24 inch walleye and up? If so, would you be willing to post it here in this thread and give the MN DNR permission to use them in presentations? My supervisor is giving a presentation in the next week or so and I have provided some data of the quality walleye we have been sampling. However, I don’t have any pictures of those fish. Big fish pictures always seem to get the point across much better than a graph and talking about the lengths. Thank you in advance for anybody willing to contribute.

Not sure if you will be able to get them off the site. They may need to be emailed to you. I can send some over in the morning. The guys on here have tons of them.

Mike why don’t you post them here first then if that does not work for him he can post a email address here for everyone to send pics to. I think it would be cool to have a post of pool 2 walleyes all in one place, so post away guys lets see how many we can post here!

I have a great one that adorns the front page of my guiding web site. It is a nice 9# fish caught at the confluence of the Minnesota/Mississippi Rivers. Shoot me an email at [email protected] and I can get it emailed to you or who ever is looking for pics….

Pool 2 is a wonderful fishery for many different species. Heck if I can catch nice Walleyes down there it has to be wonderful!

Here are four between 29.5″ and 30.5″ from Pool 2:

Could we please see a copy of the report? Those of us that fish Pool 2 regularly can’t get enough info. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the presentation isn’t open for public attendance. It is being presented to a room of wastewater treatment professionals and is about the recovery of Pool 2 following the upgrade to wastewater treatment, seperation of wastewater from storm sewers. I’m sure you guys have heard all the old stories of old fish surveys where they would only find one or two live fish from St Paul to Redwing and they would be carp. Obviously have had a good recovery.
As for last year’s report…we plan to post it on our area office web site at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/areas/fisheries/eastmetro/index.html
It probably won’t be up until next week though.

For the record, the seperation project is NOT a good thing for pool 2. There is more garbage in the river now, than 10 year ago.

Ok, here it is..not my biggest on P2 to date, but one of the prettiest ones I’ve been fortunate to have in the boat.
My younger brother boated a 32.5″er in the Vermilion river at pool 3 that I still have dreams about….It may still be out there yet….A true teens fish. And wouldn’t ya know it? No camera in the boat!

It sure hasn’t hurt the water quality or more importantly the fishing!

I think the up grade of waste water treatment plants was a good thing. Now the other part is more recent with separation of storm and sanitary sewer lines. Now a days what you see on our streets in the metro pretty much goes straight to the river untreated. Salt, oil, antifreeze and what ever else is on the streets. Im not sure how this has effected the pool but I sure hope someone is keeping a eye on it. I would imagine all this stuff in the spring time adds a lot of salt to the river and who knows what else.
