Planning to come up this weekend from central IA. With the high rising water wondering of you will still be able to get on the river and if it will be reasonably safe. My boat is an 1850 Sportfish so not worried about size of boat more the beating it could take if the river is choked with junk. Been a long winter and really itching to get on the water but if common sense says wait I guess I’ll wait.
The river has gone up 2 feet since this photo was taken Sunday at Everts.
If the river predictions are correct or even close, we had higher water last year.
I don’t know for a fact that there won’t be ice chunks in the river…but I suspect with the temps and rain they will be gone.
What you’ll need to watch for, like every year in the spring is the newly dislodged trees and large branches. Same as every spring.
I’m not sure where we’ll be fishing on Sunday. If you see and OF from MI that is stuck with a number of blade bait making him look like a Christmas Tree…swing over and say HI! It’s me and Tom Gursky.
