Was the most asked question on the phone today.

With all the talk on tv and radio, I thought was going to need a life jacket to scoop minnows this morning.

So here it is… March 14th 2010 water level. 670.00

With days like today it hard to believe there is going to be flooding. The metro and north metro for the most part are snow free and there does not seem to be a lot of standing water around. THe ditchs, small creeks and rum river are flowing but nothing I would call drastically high. It sounds like western mn is another story.

Looking at the Noaa site pool 2 is to be up 12′ by next sunday. Pool 4 forcast did not even show flooding. Not sure how that is supposed to work.

With higher levels coming, what will the water temps do?? I seen some of Jason Halfen’s Humminbird sceen captures from the weekend, and water temps were in the low to mid 40’s.

We had some decent fishing last year when the water was high but the water temps also dropped leaving the bite a little slower than expected. Will the water temps drop as much as they did last year??

What’s everyone’s prediction on the hottest week to be on P4 in the spring of 2010?

    Are you talking about fishing?

Ben, I think that is the question every year and only Mother knows for sure.

Personally I think it’s going to be when the levels…level off….BUT I’m a cat guy and I know nothing about the infamous walleye of Pool 4.

..as a good friend of mine always says: Must be present to win!

the water temps dropped to around 38 from 40-42 bite will slow down. the water need to set up still going up. fish move all the time. there 1 minute gone next. it will take a few days to bring temp up and stabilize levels. then it is lights on.

I wish I could head up tomorrow and stay for 4 weeks.
Maybe sometime the first couple weeks of April will be the ticket this year. Hopfully water levels and water temps will be some what stable.

Nothing is really stable when you bring your wifes cookies to Everts.

Ben, SOME of the water temps we found were in the low 40s.

The main channel is running 38-39.

Will that temp drop much with the water rising?

Dirty water will absorb sunlight and warm up quick.

…I was told by a very good walleye guy that dark bottom areas will warm up faster too.

Thanks for posting this Brian, do you or Dean know how much the water came up today? Right now I am planning on coming up on Thursday afternoon and possibly on Sunday. I talked to a friend today that told me if the water keeps rising at the rate it is now he thinks people will not be able to park at the resort in another week.

Was down to Everts on Tues. Water levels were really not bad. They had been sending alot of ice/wood downstream in waves but nothing to worry about. Fishing was worse than slow. Saw two tiny ones caught all morning. No one else I talked to got any fish.
