Spent the day on the river from 10-7pm.

We began with the masses and after only hooking a couple of fish and not seening all that many nets it was time to take advantage of the nice day and do some exploring.

It would turn out that exploring would only lead me to ask the question, is there really that much ice on the harbor in Bayview Park??? I mean can a guy really risk drivin a car on that ice vs. walking 50 or 100 yds? (See Pics)

I managed to hook into on of BK’s elusive gap mouth sleeping cats, it was a good fight and added some fun to a mid day slump. However it would soon turn out that my buddy would trump me with his 7′ catch-o-the day. A stick that he was a little too proud of…

As dusk sent in it would prove to be our golden hour as we found a 18′-22′ break line that was holding a 10yd pocket of 10-18″ sauger. From 6-7 we managed to boat about 30 fish on bright jigs with a firecracker ringie, no meat needed. If a fish was on the graph it would strike one of us, the dinner bell was a ringin’. Best luck -Mark

Last weekend there were permanent shacks and trucks out there. I have fished there and yes there is plenty of ice to drive on.

    Nice job on the fish

    Goofy isn’t it!

They have fishing contests there and you are at the tail end of fishing there if you only spied one truck.

I like the boat option better.

Nice fish! What time is dinner?

Yup Jason, that would have been us 3 in the craft. I saw your post and noticed the green bibs and couldnt remember seening them in a boat, so I had no clue you were there. Im sure you had a killer day, putting me to shame. I did get a few suckers (atleast I think they were) so we had the same rouphie pattern… –Mark

Mike, there is an access at Covil park in RW but im guessing it is still frozen up. My best advice got to Everets resort. why?
    1. No ramp problems ever, and the ramp fee is cheap for the info Dean will provide.
    2. the colors are always changing, Dean will have the best starting point colors laying on the counter at the bait shop as well as all your tackle and bait needs.
    3. Dean gives straight advice, for example yesterday “wasent fast and stupid” gotta love it. Atleast he can make a slow bite funny. -Mark

If you were catching suckers then you should have been catching walleye as well, they tend to hang out together
