Pool 24 – NE MO – Miss River Walleye Guide

Finally found a sauger & walleye guide for Mississippi Pools 24 – 26 just above St. Louis. Been searching for the Guide mentioned in the February, 2010 article “Miss. River Walleyes and Sauger” in the Missouri Game & Fish magazine. He turns out to be Lynn Tharp of Lynn’s Guide Service in Center, MO (573-267-3420, http://www.cannondam.com).
We had a good day out on 2/20/10 below dam 22 at Saverton, MO getting mostly saugers on 3-ways anchored in 20 FOW. We fished from about 9:30 AM to 3 PM. The flow went from 68,800 cfs to 70700 cfs and back to 70300 cfs. Stage went from 6.83 to 6.80 ft during course of fishing. The best bites were at the beginning and end and corresponded to the times of stable or falling flow.
Lynn was very helpful to me in learning some new techniques I haven’t used before to fish the pools around St. Louis.

That’s my old stomping ground. I graduated from highschool in Hannibal.

It was the first time I have fished at Saverton. They are redoing the lock gates with completion later this month. Usually fish at Winfield and have only lived here in St. Louis area about 6 years.
