What a great turnout for a day a person could be out fishing!

MN DNR Fisheries Manager Kevin Stauffer kicked off the seminars with the sturgeon portion and ended his talk with an update of the pool 4 walleye/sauger data. Sounds like 2012 might be a very good year!

Next up was Professional Guide Marty Hahn talking about Pre Spawn walleye/sauger tactics. Marty pointed out keeping notes on levels, flow and tactics used will put more fish in your boat through out the year.

Here’s Marty in the question and answer portion of the seminar.

River Rat Randy was clean up batter and covered off on some of the rigging for post spawn fish in the river.

I think that Miller Rig is going to be a hot seller at Everts!

I have to thank Shooter of the Bluff’s Bar and Grill for providing the perfect location to talk fishing!

Kevin, Marty and Randy for providing all the info and staying around after the seminars to answer questions.

And last but not least, thanks to all the folks that stopped in to gain some more knowledge of this great fishery we call Pool 4.

So? How was the Cheese Curds?

The burger was great, the cheese curds are the best, and the honey barbeque sauce they serve with them is out of this world. I want to thank BK, Marty, Randy, & Kevin for their presentations and Bluff’s for letting us set up shop for the afternoon and everyone else involved in helping. I grade the presentations by what I learn and though you may not have scripted presentations I give them an A+. I’m also glad that I got to meet a few fellow IDOers in person. I hope to see a few of you out on the water now that I may recognize you. I will be making a few trips to Bluffs. I hope you guys hold a few more of these.

A great turnout indeed! I cant believe Marty & Randy let that many “cats out of the bag” with their presentations.

THANKS to all that came! I had a great time, it was fun to see a lot of old faces and meet new ones. It sure was a learning experience for me,being my first time as a speaker. I tried to just wing it but if there is a next time, i will have some notes to help me stay on track. I only covered about half of what i had planned to talk about

I never say never, but I doubt we’ll be seeing a sequel this spring anymore. Most are ramping up for the spring push in guiding.

If you haven’t booked a date with these guys and were planing on it…now is the time or take your chances.
