Anybody been out on Pool 2 recently, looking for something to do this weekend, looks like it should be decent out there. Thanks.

The 494 landing may be a bit iced. Jon J lives near the landing. I was hoping he could give me an update on the access. I will be out on the water both Saturday and Sunday.

It may need some work after last nights cool temps. I will be down there tonight to check it out if I do not hear from Jon today.

I will post tonight if I have any results to give.

I am sure the bite will be there, just a matter of getting out to them.

Was just down at the 494 ramp. I hate to report this, but it don’t look good. The river in that section is froze over, shore to shore. I can see some moving water upstream and downstream, but there is a LOT of ice. Not skim ice, a good inch or more. The river through downtown here is jammed up with huge slabs of sheet ice.

I have seen things change in a hurry, some sun and a good wind will usually loosen things up. However, with overnight temps in the low teens or single digits, I don’t see things getting any better.

Looks like I’ll finally get a chance to fire up the auger and go ice fishing this weekend???!!!

    Thanks Jon for the update.

I don’t think things will be fishable this weekend with ice like that and another night of low single digits is not going to make it any better.

You’re right, either Red Wing or hard water…….

    Thanks again Jon

As of last night, the 494 access is still “iced up”.

Main channel in front of the access has opened back up, but alot of ice in front of the landing.

Suppose to get some temps in the low 30’s this week. This will help move some ice from out in front of the access. Although additional work may be required to remove the ledge that has formed.

Hidden falls ramp would be a alternative to those that would like to launch on the upper end of pool 2.

    Until then,

    Good Luck
