Hey Guys just got off pool 4, fished from 9:30 to 3:30 pretty slow today for us we started at Hay Creek trollin 3-ways and cranks made one pass and got one sauger then ran up river to the Y and caught 12 walleyes anywhere from 4in to 17in did see some guys catching some good fish in about 36ft of water down by the wingdam. Blade baits worked best for us today, man thats alot of fun pumping those things. hoping to get down next weekend and try some things I didn’t get to do today.

    talk to ya later

We found it a very tough bite too; there are a lot of fish down there and also a lot of food. There are quite a few 1 1/2″ shad washed up on the beach @ Everts.

Hey Nate, we fished in that general area Friday. Caught about 60 fish, of which 15 sauger and 2 walleye were legal. What a beautiful day to be on the water!! Never fished as far upstream as the Y however. Twisters early, Hutch’s blades late. Have Fun…..B

I was out yesterday. Took slickrb for his first ever trip to Redwing. It was pretty slow. If you liked small you could catch all you wanted, but we couldn’t find a pattern to produce quality with any regularity. Trolled hays creek, the “Y”, flipped plastics to rap… NADA. The switch was off.

Went for a ride along the river today by car [homesick for the river] and stopped and talked to Steve at Everts. We were talking to a guy who just took out and he said alot of 6 inch fish. In fact so many stacked up in there that he could feel his jig bumping the sides of fish all day long. A few alittle bigger ones mixed in but mostly small ones. One heck of a year class of fish coming up in the future tho. Bill

We found the same thing in a couple of spots on pool 2. Lots of YOY fish. I think you are right…a very good year class.

I was out with a couple great guys on Saturday too. We had a blast ribbing each other and the fishing was OK. We probably boated around 50 fish, but not a legal in the bunch. We tried up by the dam, the Y, Hay creek and the rip rap by Bay Point. The wind was definitely a challenge, plus it was slightly chilly at times. One thing about it though, I was on the river……ahhhhhh

I recently read an article on the high water and effect it will have on the walleye population in last thursday’s post bulletin. It went on to say that since the river was up for so long last spring, and dropped slowly, a HUGE precentage of the walleye fry made it past the first critical stage of developement and in fact are the ones you guys are seeing in abundance now. anyone one know the link to the PB in rochester can check for the article and maybe post it for all to read!

Even though Sat. was what everyone else considers a slow day, I HAD FUN. You guys have it made fishin open water in the middle of Jan. I would kill to have this in my backyard. Fishin with one of the best on the river (Jedsall) makes it much more interesting THANKS JIM>
