Spent 3 of the last 4 days up at Pool 4 chasing the fish around and had some great weather fish, weather, and company besides the wind yesterday! Overall the bite was so so I guess Thursday being the best day of the 3 with some very very nice fish coming to the boat. I fished 2 way all 3 days I pitched blades, plastics, and hair jigs from an anchored position and trolled 3 ways when looking for numbers trying to cover water. Blades were my best producer overall with 3 ways having its moments but overall the 3 way bite was a little tough after being spoiled the previous 2 weeks.
The one thing I must say is keep changing colors until you find that 1 color that is working and when they stop start changing up again until you find the magic bait. Also small subtle changes as well. Re position yourself with the anchor maybe 10-20 yds the fish are everywhere right now from the lake to the dam and when you have an area pin pointed it is not that the fish moved out and left the area all together they may have just adjusted shallower, deeper, or even just looking for something a little different. My routine for the most part was anchor up to an area work it over with a blade and pick off the active fish and net work a hair jig and minnow 1/8 and 3/16 ounce up shallow and out deeper along the current seam trying to pick off neutral fish. Colors all depends upon the conditions with as much sun as we saw the last 4 days gold, white, and fire tiger were my 3 best colors. My eyes were in around 4-10 ft of water with saugers mixed in but mostly caught closer to the current seam/drop off to deeper water.
3 ways and cranks have been all or nothing for me. I either pop them one after another or it is a slow slow troll watching the eagles play. For the most part I have been running 2 sticks per line and pumping the bait back and forth, but did try 4 lines a few times as well when I noticed more fish striking the rear crank. Oddly enough with this set up the front bait caught mostly walleye while the rear crank most times would produce the saugers oddly enough. Colors once again depend upon the skies. Dark day dark color bright day bright color.
Best bet you can do is when ya get to Everts speak with Dean and he will be able to help you put a game plan together with the hottest baits daily being displayed on the counter along with some pretty sweet look designs for the new blades this year!
