Mark Steffes and I were joined by several other iDoFishing.com Dads and their daughters (and a few sons!) for a day on the water yesterday. Our time on the water, while shorter that I wanted it to be, was filled with fun, fish, and some great memories.

Here are some shots of our girls, as well as a couple of the other boats who joined us. I know I missed at least two other boats….sorry guys (and gals)!

The primary activities on our boat were eating, playing games, eating, reeling in fish, and eating. Caroline’s tally by day’s end included 3 cupcakes, a tin of pringles, several cookies, a PB&J, strawberry milk, more cookies from Dean, and a banana. I wish I had a metabolism like that!

One of the things our girls did was enjoy a rousing game of ringworm toss, targeting Caroline’s empty Pringles can.

I think we were out for ~ 2.5 hours and had nine fish in the boat (3 times around the Caroline-Ashley-Christine fish catching sequence). 6 of them were keeper-sized, and Mark harvested 4 of them for the table. We focused on pulling cranks on 3-way rigs, and once we found a good pod of fish the action was fast.

Thanks to Mark and his girls for joining Caroline and me in the boat, and thanks to all the other Dads and their girls (and boys!) for hitting the water with their kids in advance of the big football tilt.

Thanks for the update Jason The FW and I also had our girls up ther but we never touched the water,It was a dual purpose trip for us ,we visited Dean for a bit and then a short trip to visit relatives while in the area.

The parking lots looked like traffic may have been heavy on the water.

Glad to hear all had a good time

Hannah and I had a great time! We managed 1 small sauger in about 2 hours. Her brother saw the pic at home and said, “It’s really small.”

Hannah raved about the cupcake and “the big girl” (Ashley?) that made them. When I told her that there would be other girls there, that sold the deal.

It was great to be out with just her! That’s her keeping the Warrior clean with the blue towel! Priorities, priorities…

I am looking forward to more of these! And thanks to Dean for putting up with us too.

    See you next time!

It was a great day on the water with my two girls!

We caught two of the smallest sauger I’ve ever seen, reeled in a couple of clam shells, had cheese curds at the harbor bar, took turns ” driving the boat” and counted lots of eagles.

They can’t wait to come back to Everts and scratch Gus’s ears some more. Thanks Jason for the great idea and to Dean for being a great host.

Megan and I had a great trip as well. This was the first chance she’s had to be out in the new Skeeter and the boat was a hit.

We hit the water about 10:30 am and she had her first fish in the boat within 10 minutes of putting lines down. A nice 15 1/4″ walleye to start the day. At her request we fished until about 4:30 and SHE caught fish all day long. As the photos below show, she manhandled a few 19″ saugers to the boat all by herself.

We ended keeping just a couple fish to fry up for dinner tonight and we had a very memorable day on the water! Thanks for suggesting this Jason and hopefully we can do this again soon!

Thank for sharing the images – looks like lots of fun and a great day of weather to boot. I hope this becomes a tradition and in a few years you will see me down there when my daughter get a bit older

pulled 25 bags of leaves out of my yard in the AM and then had the kids down to grandma/grandpa’s for a post a Halloween celebration…

Nice job to all the dads!

Wished I had been in town I would have thrown BK in the boat and fished—he is such a girl he would have fit in with his pink hat and all

It makes me all “I can’t wait till Elisabeth is old enough for this stuff!”

Looks like a blast… can’t wait to join in on this sort of thing someday.
