Going on wednesday to the river. We have done pretty good this year on pepin, (3)6 pounders and (1) 8 pounder 3 weeks ago. I know alot of fish migrate to the dam area at this time, but is there still good action on pepin? We are still using leadcore and long-lining. We were there last week and didnt see more than 4 boats all day and did not catch 1 eye or sauger all day,but the flow was way up from the rain.
Did you try 3-waying? Not sure what speed you were pulling but slower has been better over the last couple of weeks. I’ll know more after monday as I plan to hit the river before work monday.
I am just guessing but I think pitching plastics and blades is producing and I think the dragging bite is taking off as well.
Keep an eye out on the weather.I would not rule the lake bite out by any means.Good luck to you either way.
