Has the northern section improved since last Saturday? I would like to reverse the weed/fish ratio. A Wednesday report would be killer. I’m still tossing the idea to go this Thursday or next.

I’ll try to keep this up on top, I too would like to hear how the upper part of P9 is doing. The barge report sounds like it might have cleared somewhat.

I don’t know if this will help, but I fished the upper part of P8 saturday abd sunday P.M., the weeds were terrible on the east side of the river but the west side was very good. It was almost like being on two different rivers.
As far as fish only caught a few small saugers, but I had the kids along so it was not hardcore by any means. Hope this helps.

I was on P9 this past weekend too. Weeds were still a big problem. Seems like the higher water and flow were moving stuff out of the backwaters. Fish seemed to want to cooperate to the crankbaits I was throwing but most casts came back with salad. It was possible to find slicks of clean water but they were not always where you wanted to fish. The weeds have to end sometime…..they’ve been on the move for 24/7 for quite some time now.

Is it from P8? I too was there 2 weeks ago and burnt up my live well pump…full of duck seed and plugged the inlet with grass. Yes the trolling motor went threw hell. So do we need to get above P8 or even more? Being from Central Iowa I wish to not go too far.

Was out from 3:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday & noon to 6:00pm yesterday on the northen end of P9. The weed parade continues making fishing the main channel all but impossible at times. Caught quite a few dimensionally challeneged fish between the onslaught of weeds jigging a blue/green bucktail tipped with some meat. You’ll rifle through 25 to 30 fish to put 6 legals in the live well though.

There are a several stretches in back water sloughs holding a mixed bag of eyes & sauges that are just as hungry as the main channel dwellers. Action may not be as fast & furious during a feeding window but neither are the weeds!

The barge report states it’s kinda grassy too.

Heard the grass was down, but the flow was way up there.
