I would like to start out by thanking Whitetip for the open seat it was a good time even though it rained, then it poured, then it was a wintery mix and finally it snowed in dang near white out condition form.

I would also like to thank Dean for sharing the last of the Cream Cheese bars with me that had 6# or #9 on them

The bite on Pool 4 is incredible in some areas and good in others. We started the day off throwing blades in search of some hawg walleye. I boated a 22″, 19 1/4″, 18″ and lost a 17″ at the boat while Whitetip was putting on a session of bass boating a number of large and smallmouths before finally putting his first eye in the boat. After about 2-3 hours of casting blades, boating fish and taking a beating from the weather we headed into to Everts for some coffee and the last of the cream cheese bars that had the #9 ooops I mean #6 on them we headed back out for some 3-waying of F-9’s and F-7’s which put big numbers of saugers and a walleye in the boat just on the tip of the break lines. The biggest sauger was just over 22″. I’m going to tell you the 3-way bite is on fire. We boated 1-3 fish every pass and were at times doubled up and at one time we had 3 rods loaded up at once. It was a good day despite the wintery weather.

Once again thank you very much Whitetip and we’ll see you on the water

great report, just what I wanted to hear!

one question for ya. when 3-waying raps do you tie directly to the rap or do you use a cross-lok snap, snap swivel, or no-snap fast lock, or something else so you can switch raps quicker??

    thanks

Glad you enjoyed the first part of your day in the boat under not so pleasant weather conditions giving me a lesson on catching eyes on the blades. The bass seemed to take a shining to my cadence considerably over the eyes. Its allways a great time getting the string stretched on light tackle as well as sharing the boat with someone who has similar passion & enough endurance to stick it out under the conditions we faced. The afternoon coffee-cream cheese bar break at the resort seemed to be a requirement to fullfilling the second leg of our journey.I must say those were some of the best dang bars I have ever encountered! I wasnt sure what all the talk was about the #6 or #9 buisiness, but I knew those #’s meant I needed to have the last 1 by the look on your & Deans faces when you both took a bite & smiled. I figured a change up in our program was due.Staying composed & finessing fish to the boat after the deluge of water we were thrown at us with ice pellets mixed in seemed to me at this point almost unthinkable. With only a couple hours left for me to fish & getting my handed to me on the walleye blade bite, breaking out the 3-way rigs with rod holders easily at hand,to give our “temporarily” warm hands a break seemed to me our best option. It didnt take long for our hands to be wet & cold again primarily due to handling fish. For me the cold didnt seem as bad as before until I tried to put the gloves back on. The 3-way bite is very strong now & I suspect the plastics-jig bite will be going strong soon. This is my favorite time of year for size & numbers of fish that are on the big chew. With a fraction of boats on the water compared to spring, due to hunting seasons.Stop by Everts for all the updated info & grab yourself a couple hand fulls of your favorite lures & hit the river.Dont forget to bring treats! Glad we could get together for the day, Jesse.Hope to see you again soon. Best of luck fishing all WHITE TIP

It was a good thing we caught so many fish 3-waying as the fish were warm so handling them was anticipated as they made for great hand warmers
