got my doos today. headed out to the river got there 1/2 after dark. I tried a light jig and ring chartreuse then went to a 1/4 oz. (orange head) popped a 15 incher then lost another better fish. fishing the deep water for another hour zero action next time 1/2 oz plus to get down there. started casting shallow max 3 ft (slow steady retrieve) in a slack water area right to the side of the dam. second or third cast thwapp that nice inhale hit 22 incher on green and white doo on 1/4 oz. (head orange). about 15 min later had another better fish on lost it. another major line tangle re-spool got 2 more 22 inchers on the baby blue doo they really liked that color orange head. I had alot of of icing on the rod tip I usually swish the rod in the water to get the ice off, water is a little too cold for that now wound up thawing it in my mouth. both flashlights died party over. I needed to retie next time extra batteries and flaslight in jacket to keep batteries warm. I had a great time the best fishing there so far. 24 degrees no gloves! half the time. the doos really worked great on that slow steady retrieve. I fished kalins and bobby garlands bassn man gitzits for many years for smallmouth I know how good the kalins are for bass. but swimming these doos are awesome for walleye. any suggestions for keeping the ice off the eyes car wax wd40 on line and eyelets?? I was also using yum shad flavor and will continue to do so. thanks everybody.
