I made it out for a short 3 hour trip this afternoon . The bite was not to bad with 10 eyes coming to our boat. The biggest was a very thick 26 incher. I think they are starting to put some weight on, the shad are everywhere right now . Shad style baits were the ticket again. The key was changing colors when the sun went behind the clouds. When the sun was shining hot colors worked , and when it was overcast dark colors worked best. If the rain holds off I will give it a try again in the morning.

Thanks jigfan! You gave me the boost I needed to drop the honey do list and hit the river. Maybe we’ll see you on the water!

Had three keepers Sat, two over twenty inches. My brother caught a dandy smallmouth on a jig and crawler. He was just over three pounds and striped real nice in the face. Your right about the shad baits. All of the walleyes came off shad baits and they were not shy about smackin’ them.

Mica, when you talk about Shad Style baits, are you referring to cranbaits or plastics such as sassy shads. Also are you catching these fish on wingdams or else where???

In the past few weeks I have caught them on everything from blades , one eyes, plastics and cranks. Any thing that will imitate a fleeing shad, or dying one. Most on wing dams but not all. If you find a large amount of bait I would bet there are walleyes near by.
