    Hey Guys,
Pool 4 is still putting out some fish. I fished the upper end of pepin and the back channel on Monday. We launched about noon. We lost one real nice fish in the back channel then hit up some white bass for a couple of hours(my mistake). When I finally decided to hit the lake we began to catch fish instantly. There were a lot of short sauger to start off with, then it was like you flipped a switch and we started catching 16-20 inch walleye. Time ran short on us and I would have liked to fish it longer but it was getting dark so we headed back. We were trolling long lines in 6-8ft of water. purple #5 shadraps seemed to work the best, but switching colors is always a must. If you’re in an area you think that there are fish, change up colors until you find whats working. We ended up catching 4 keepers in just a little over 2 hours which is slow but a lot of it was narrowing down our trolling pass to just target the area the fish were biting. Good luck out there, fall is just around the corner.

The last few times I have hit the river I have not been to dissapointed with my results either. I have been catching mostly walleye and all have been on crankbaits with an nonexistant live bait bite going on for me. The best times seem to be right away in the morning or from 530 to 730 at night. I have been using bright colors and fishing from 6 to 12 feet. Hopefully things are going to be getting better from here on out. Good luck on the water. Mike

Are you on leave right now, and if so for how long? Be sure to take pops out fishing while you’re back. I wish I could fish wish my dad again.

Redneck senior, your replacement rod arrived today, just in time for junior to get you back into the catching groove and out of the breaking groove.

The bite has really been quite good overall, considering temps & time of year.Several fish caught today and a dandy 27 plus yesterday. The fish are in excellent condition and weighing out nicely.

    Frazer,
Not sure how often the boy checks in here but he is in the Reserve so he is back for good—at least for the time being. He does drag the old man out it is just our schedules don’t seem to line up lately.
    Dean,
One of us will be down to pick it up shortly. I know the Pool 3 bite sure isn’t normal for this time of year.
