Got out at first light Thursday AM and picked up 6 walleyes. All but one came pitching wingdams using bombers. The other was on a pro-blue paddletail.

The winds finally kept me from maintaining boat position and I pull off around 9:30 AM.

    Pretty good bite IMHO.

    Nice job Marty!
I have benn resorting to live bait lately to get fish in the boat.
Brandon J, Knowing Marty I bet he was on 2.

Guys, I was on Pool 2. The rains should keep some flow going this week…That will set up the wingies real well.

I’m going to try getting out some early AM or some evening this week…maybe more than once.

There were some that were hungry for crankbaits on saturday, but more wanted a crawler dragged in front of their nose. My biggest was 25″s, but the rest were mostly in the 19-24″ range. Suprisingly the bite is still going even though its August.

Yep…just what I suspected. Hit it again this AM with my oldest Jackson and Janel at first light. Pitching Bombers and Renegade crankbaits, I CPR’ed a nice 20″+ walleye from the first wing dam.

Janel was pitching the Bomber 5A on another wingdam when she boated this personal best 26″ (we did measure this one).

The recent rain storms have the current moving slowly, but definitely there. We actually did better pitching toward the inside of the wingdams rather than on the outer tips.

While the fish were not jumping into the boat, the action was certainly good enough that everyone wants to get up early and do it again this week.

I was down there for a few hours on sunday and ran into Mike W. Good to see ya Mike!! We caught a couple eyes but nothing to great. Stopped back down last night for just a short run to check a couple deep rock spots (16fow right next to 25 fow or so) caught 4 fish between 26.5-28.25! So they are there but tight to the spot on the spot. I had to vertical jig them to pull them out of there.

Way to go Vriezers! I haven’t been on 2 at all lately. Last week I was on vacation with the family on Balm lake 30 miles NW of Bemidji. I caught ridiculous amounts of bass and sunnies. We also enjoyed watching the bears at the Red Lake Indian Reservation dump.

But now I’m back and eager to go after some real fish!

Glad to hear you guys are still getting into them. The fishing over the weekend was pretty slow for my boat. No walleyes. Plenty of sheep head and a few cats. Did also manage to find a nice school of sunfish.
