O.K. I’VE FOUND SOME ARTICLES ON RINGWORMS AND DOO’S. WHAT ARE THESE KALINS AND HOW DO YOU USE THEM? I NEED A LITTLE HELP IN USING THIS SEARCH OPTION – ARCHIEVES, ARTICLES. THERE MUST BE A QUICKER WAY TO RESEARCH SOMETHING OTHER THAN GOING TO THE FORUM AND READING THE LISTS ON EACH PAGE TO FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR…
    ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED…

    L,

You will probably find a better search if you search under K-grubs. K-Grubs are used in the same way as a ringworm. They just offer a bigger profile. The best way to rig them is just like you would put on any plastic. I prefer using light as jig as possible. Wind and current will tell you what size you need. I mostly use 1/16-3-32. Your presentation is very critical. The best area to fish these is in 1′-12′ of water. To tell if you have the right size jig you must experiment. Throw you K-Grub out perpendicular to the boat. While the jig is falling make sure you keep a tight line. Once the jig hits the bottom lift up on the rod tip and hold in place steady. IF you have the right size jig the current/wind will move you jig down stream. Two things you will be waiting for. A POW or sometimes a tick on the end of the line or your line tightening up(if your line isn’t tight). I have caught lots of fish before I have even felt them on the rod just by watching your line. Giving you a quicker hook set. Also this same presentation does work on ringworms. I hope that helps. Hopefully you will have something like these hit you line. Both of these walleyes were taken on Firecracker K-Grubs from B-fish-N Tackle.

    Los,

One other thing to keep in mind. Usually the k-grubs requires a little heavier jig versus the ringworm. The ringworm is more slender than the K-grub. K-Grubs are fat and have a bigger tail causing more friction and action in the water. For example I use 1/8 oz on a K-grub while I would use 3/32 on a ringworm under the same conditions. That is why the Precision jigs are so helpful. You can really perfect your presentation. I hope that helps.
