There is a wealth of info on this site for fishing ringworms, and some people who can give you a ton of info as well. Try clicking “Search” above, then search the walleye forum for “ring worm”. You will get a good start on some excellant reading. Also, try “plastics” in the search. Will include super dos and Kalin tails, which are excellant produers as well. I believe there are some articles as well, but I tried a search for them and nothing returned for “ringworm”. Give it a whirl, and I’m sure there will be some excellant replies as well! Welcome to the board! It is a great place to learn and share about our great river!

The most effective way to fish ringworms for the better than average size walleye is to cast them in to shallower water, 12′ of water or less. In the shallower depths, I use light jigs in the 1/16oz to 3/16oz size. When I am casting to a deeper current break I will go up to a 3/8oz to get the bait down if I need to. If I can’t get the bait down with a 3/8oz jig and maintain control, another presentation is usually called for in that kind of heavy current situation. They also work very well for vertical jigging when going after good numbers of sauger and walleye.
