Pepin Boaters-looking for a little help

    For you guys that are fishing out from the Pickle Factory, could you keep any eye open for dead fish?

    I’ve been hearing about sturgeon, cats and paddle fish floating belly up in that area. What I’m looking for is more photos of the fish. I have one, but it’s stuck in my non-functioning cell phone and doesn’t do me a bit of good there.

    More eyes are better than just two.

    If any are spotted, please send them to [email protected] with a description of the approximate location.

    Both the MN and WI DNR have are aware of the fish, but would like some photo’s if possible.

    I don’t have any pics but my boss has a place in Frontenac and reported seeing a dead paddle fish by the Sportsman’s landing last month. They were just walking along the beach area. I also have another co-worker who has a place by Homer, MN and reported seeing a large dead sturgeon washed up on the beach about the same time as the dead fish stories started to surface.

    I will keep my eyes open.

    As an FYI, both DNR’s do not feel this is a pollution/spill issue.

    Pictures are needed so any help would be most appreciated!

    Brian we saw 3 cats and 1 paddle fish by the rush on the 4th-5th sorry no pic.

    About a week ago I did see a sturgon just down from the pickle factory and about middle of the lake, no marks on him and about 48″ sorry no pics.

    This is interesting. Haven’t been down there since that really hot spell where the water temps flirted with the mid-high 80’s. Lots of floating sheepies, but nothing else that I saw then. We took a pretty good scenic tour of the lake as well and I checked out every dead fish we came across.

    Good luck in figuring out the mystery, and please share whatever you find!

    I saw two paddlefish the other day near maiden rock( not that I would ever fish that area ) and both had their tails cut off. Looked pretty clean cut…
