Just wondering if I can get an update on the conditions of the ramps at the resort.
I also haven’t seen much for fishing reports lately, has anyone been out on Pool 4 recently?
With warmer temps in the forcast for the weekend I might need a holiday fishing fix.
    Thanks

Ramps are wide open and in good shape. The fishing has been pretty darn good the past few days. Most guys are reporting limits of nice sized sauger and quite a few walleye mixed in. The area below the “y” has been putting out the most fish. The dam area has also been quite good as well though. Good Luck.

    Thank you Steve!!
With that said I will probably see you tomorrow morning.
I am probably going solo so I will have room if anyone is interested in joining me for a few hours.

Well you won’t be seeing me tomorrow. I have Mr. Holst working for me again this weekend. Well you might see me early, but then i’ll be gone till Monday. I have to go to Lutsen for a wedding on Saturday, then to St. Cloud for X-mas on Sunday, then come back here Sunday night. Gonna put lots of miles on this weekend! Stop on down and enjoy the nice weekend being forecasted. Good Luck to all!

I’m just gonna warn you up front Jon, Buckshot likes lots of hugs pats on the bottom after he catches a fish….and since I rather enjoy this also, we have a blast fishing together.

Have fun guys, wish I could go!!!

I’m more of an occasional Hi-5 kinda guy, but have been known to give up a hug now and again.

To make a long story short the fish are always biting ”somewhere” [Steve or James this weekend will tell you where] and Everts ramps are always in best shape possible as Steve does a good job of keeping them open for us fisherman. Thanks Gentlemen for the above. Thanks, Bill

4LBs.+ is good for a hi five. 8LBs.+ is good for a hug. I don’t know what to do for a 11LBs.+ walleye.

    hi Jon and Buckshot,
well saturday came and went and so did Kansas City, how was the fishing, a few thousand of us weekend workers are dying to know, heck maybe past 2am Sunday morning you might still be up on a wingdam somewhere. Sunday is looking mild for the am, then a cold front is scheduled for early sun afternoon. Jack.

7:30 AM… less than a week before X-mas… 33 degrees and not a BREATH of wind here at the resort! I’m not even sure it matters if the fish be bitin’!

    Hi Jack,

We had a pretty good day. Fished for about 7 hours and had a steady stream of fish comming over the side of the boat. The sauger were chomping on the super-doos. Nice day to be out for sure.

Thanks for sharing your boat Buckshot. We will get out soon on pool 2. Speaking of pool 2, headed out to give it a try here soon.

41 degrrees right now… 12:20 PM on December 21st, 2003…!!! And no wind at all. Not nearly as many boats here as one would expect, maybe a couple dozen. Good reports all around from those coming off the water so far. Mostly sauger, a few walleye limits caught early in the day before the sun stared blazing away over the tree tops. VERY bright today + clear water makes for a tougher bite on the ‘eyes during the middle of the day.

Ramps aren’t even a consideration now… but it is good weather for a snowball fight. IF Stewart didn’t throw like such a girl I’d challenge him to a go-round when he gets here in a few minutes… lol

Looking forward to a warm Monday on the water. This will be my first trip down to pool 4 this year. Hope to entice a few ‘eyes over the side of the boat. (It might be even better if I hook’em.) Thanks for all of the great reports and ramp information. I rarely post, but this site has been top-notch!
    Keep up the great work.

    Jon,
It was my pleasure, it was nice to have some company in the boat. It was a great day on the water and with the Sauger cooperating fairly well on the Super Doos you just couldn’t ask for much more.
Keep me in mind if you ever have a spot open in the boat for pool 2 or 4.

i was wondering if i could get a few tips from you guys. i dont want you to give up your spots but my soon to be father-in-law is coming to town for x-mas and he has never fished on the river and its been 2 years since ive been to the river in the winter. trying to make a good trip for him for his first winter fishing trip. he thinks the ice is the only place to be this time of year

The best tip right now is to fish from the dam to below the “y”……b/w the “y” and the vermillion river that dumps in. 25 feet or so with a superdoo or ringworm vertical jigging has been putting numbers of fish in the boat. After you get that figured out. You may want to try the walleye casting bite in the shallow water along the rip-rap. Good Luck and let us know how you do. Thanks.

Hi, We had a great day on Sunday. We caught and released a number of good fish. We caught almost all of our fish on small minnows hooked on small jigs. We kept our limit of small saugers for eating. The day was great! A number of fish,(which we released), were caught on small minnows on both a lindy rig set up and a split shot above a small minnow with a plain hook. What a great fishery!
