Pool 4 Trolling Bite Going Strong

Got on the water at 4:15am to fish for a few hours before my wife was to join me for the day. The crappies had taken over my trolling spot, so for the first 2 hours I boated over 50 crappies with just 6 eyes in the mix. Don’t get me wrong most of the crappies were in the 12-16″ range, but I would much rather be catching eyes. Thankfully a few northern showed up and chased away the crappies so I could put a few more eyes in the boat before heading back to the landing.

After I picked up my wife I figured we would troll a new spot and put some fish in the boat quick and then switch gears and look for size over numbers. My goal was to have her catch fish trolling, dragging bait, and casting cranks, luckily the fish were willing to bite doing all three. We ended the day with 100+ fish and maybe there is a better understanding of why I like to fish so much.
1st picture is a 27″ eye that my wife caught, the biggest of the day. I still haven’t heard the end of it.

I really hate when I have to throw stuff in the water to scare away the 12″ crappie just so the walleye will show up.

    Jeesh…lucky dog.
