I rarely rely on the weather man for the chance of rain, but I tend to believe him on the wind. Well, not after Wednesday. Forecast: 8 mph NW, Actual: 15-25 WSW. We only got to fish our first spot for a couple of hours before the white caps were to frustrating to deal with. Had a 10.4 lb post spawn fish on a blade 30 mins. in and a 22″ on a ringworm before we moved on. Tried to find a place out of the wind and that never actually happened. We definately struggled for numbers but the quality was good. After fishing a location in the evening for 3 hours without a fish, it was decided that we were going to stay on the spot and hope the fish would move in at dark and they didn’t dissapoint. These fish were overly aggressive and would crush the blades on the pump, sometimes more than a foot off the bottom. We had many fish in the 23-26 mark all on blades. We also had 3 fish to the boat that didn’t make the net that had some serious shoulders.
Don’t be afraid to search for bigger fish alittle deeper now that the spawn is mostly over. All our fish came in over 10 feet of water.
First picture is the 10.4 lb post spawn and the rest are between 23-26.
