I know many folks have really been struggling this spring, and I thought it would be nice if we would share some of our favorite post spawn/transition techniques.

My personal favorite is targeting backwaters (especially in high water) and trolling upstream trying to intercept these fish on their way downstream. I will also target any current seam on my way downstream that happens to be on the downstream side of inside bend. I’ve even been known to hang out on some key wing dams a few miles below the spawning grounds.

This is a very interesting tread. Being new to the river I look forward to some other appreciated tips. Thanks!

I cover water. Then, I cover water. After that, I cover water.

With water levels and flows dropping, and temps on the increase, I turn my attention to cranks. F7s and F9s on 3-ways, leadcore, and handlining all get some attention during the post-spawn period in my boat.

    Jason –

Is there a particular temp. or flow that makes you say, Now is the time for pulling cranks or spinners and crawlers?

for sure I will hit the wing dams, will use leeches as soon as I can get them. Also like to hit the side channels. Watched the draggin video from James and Jason. will give this more of a try this year for sure. Some great info. by the way-thanks for doing the video guys–John

By mid-may the draggin bite in the side channels, backwater lakes and cuts is awesome up on pool 4. Lots of fish… and big fish to boot. Jason and I are glad you liked it!
