I hit the water around 3:30 today and there were some very mixed reports from the guys coming in. One boat would have 0-1 fish and the next would have a few keepers.
I hit the lock area and managed 2 keepers starting the drift on a shallow flat, maybe 10′ and working the area down to 20′ and back up to about 15′. I caught one a jig and minnow with a fuzzy grub and the other on a live bait rig.
I wandered down river to fish some sand, some seams, and some wing dams but only boated smaller fish. I did manage fish in nearly every spot.
There were about 12 boats fishing the rock pile area on the WI side and spread down the shoreline – I did see fish being caught but I did not see any keepers.
Back to the lock area and caught 2 more keepers before calling it a night. What an afternoon to be on the water. I had my flat out there so no temp gauge on that rig. The flow was very fishable and there were a bunch of gus wading along the trailer park area and fishing from the Corps parking lot but I was not there long enough to see any fish caught.
All in all, 4 keepers, 3 walleye and 1 sauger, all males and all 16-17″. Caught maybe another 12 short eyes in 3-1/2 hours on the water.
The day ended on a bad note when I got back to my truck to see someone had hit both doors on the passenger side
