Headed out with the masses on Saturday to be greeted with nice weather for a change. Started off at Hay Creek fishing the 17-24 foot break. Had a couple nice hits, but no fish in the boat. Saw one nice 30incher caught. Moved to the dam for some sauger action. Boated 25-30 short fish on the 10-16 ft current break. Kept 4 15-18 inchers and released my biggest sauger to date a FAT 21 1/2 incher. Most of the fish fell victom to 1/4 and 5/16 ounce orange/chartruese presicion heads with firecracker/chartruese paddletails. It seemed like they hung on a little longer with meat on then plastics only. Ended the day with one more nice sauger pulling 3-ways with raps. Ill be headin back soon. It will only get better.

Thanks for the report, we had about the same luck on Saturday… We did exactly the same thing that day and also watched that same nice 30″ ‘eye get caught. Our biggest was a 20″ sauger, and we did keep a few for the traditional Easter sauger dinner. We mostly threw meat, both on hair and no hair jigs, and didn’t notice a preference. Was really nice to be anchored up closer to the dam considering the trolling motor batteries started the day at about zero charge… Probably boated 2 dozen (mostly small) fish that day, with many, many more “short strikes.” Great weather, very little breeze, sun…even got a little sunburned – was nice to finally get out on the water.

We were one of the 32 boats that saw the 30 inch eye caught as well! Nice fish! That is going to take up a nice spot on his wall!
