Went down to the river today. It was really slow only boated 7 small fish. We had most of our luck power trolling lindy rigs around the tepee and marina. Today was the slowest I had seem the river yet this year boat and fish wise. But in the 15 boats around us there were prolly over 150+ walleyes and saugers caught. All dinks. The water temp was around 37-38. The river is still about 7 feet high. Anyone heading down to the river watch out there were trees floating down the channel.

I think we are right around the corner from the bite really picking up. All the smaller fish are a good sign that river is healthy with plenty of year classes. I think the larger fish are heavy with eggs right now and avoid current areas as much as possible. Those football shaped saugers and ‘eyes just don’t cut the current that well It wasn’t a bad day to be on the water yesterday weatherwise. Thanks for the report!

Saturday was slower for us too. We caught 9 sauger no eyes. Friday was better for my boat, really made my day when my son caught his 19 inch male walleye, not a hog by no means, but was fun to see his grin.caught around 34 fish both days, all to be released. again a really great group of fisherman and women, looked like everone was out to have a good time. see everone next sat.
