Well I finally got some open water fishing yesterday on Alma. Hadn’t fished Alma in a few years. The conditions were cold and pretty darn brutal with a north wind and highs maybee 38 degrees and no sunshine. But it was a pretty good day for fishing, we patterned keeper walleye off the fronts and tips of wing dams but we also caught a few in between but the majority of the nice ones came on the front face. We brought 37 to the boat (all species) with 12 keeper eyes. It was a great day and food for my soul to get back out on my boat on open water and fish

We started the day out with plastic, hair and zips and sonars. Hair jigs is what ended up working on this day tipped with a minnow, I caught mine bouncing off the bottom with the nicer walleye nailling them on the fall. Stopped at the float around noon for a coffee and warmth and I picked up a few walleye killers with the added stinger and I caught a few of the short stricker’s on the stinger. It should be noted a didnt loose a jig all day long, this has to be a record for me! We did see a guy nail a nice one up in the shallows between two damns but I couldnt see what he was using (maybe 10′). Alma was pretty baron, maybe ten boats out, we pretty much had the place to ourselves and as you can see in the back of my picture it was not to cold to drink a few

Alma had definetly been good for numbers as of late..We have seem the same pattern for the walleyes. Tips of wingdams and current seams coming into them producing…Here is a picture of yesterday too of the “Masked Outdoorsman”. Biggest fish was 22″ for us on Thursday. Kept 7 walleyes total.
