Just a quick post to let you know the sauger bite is still going strong. Was out today and we had a good numbers day again with a handful or two of 18″- 19″s . Most of our fish came from 22′- 27′, we did’nt have a dominant color today every color we put down caught fish. It seemed they would like one color for awhile and then it would slow down so we switched colors till we found what they wanted, and that color did well for a drift or two and then we had to change again. So don’t be afraid to change things up when it slows down. Here’s a pic from today. Take care…

December 6, 2003 at 4:21 am #284253Yes it was a nice day on the water, a little bit of wind but it was’nt too bad. I stayed below the Y today, and there might have been a dozen boats around us. Good luck to all of you going out this weekend.

December 6, 2003 at 9:28 pm #284304Hi HAWG
Talked to you at Everet’s just after you pulled out. Thats one nice rig you have there, lots of room. We were going out for the night bite, did really well on chartrues K-Tail’s and Walleye Assasin’s and 8th ounce jigs on the rip rap and wing dams. 15 between 18 and 22 inches, Walleye’s.No Hogs but really nice fish. Stopped at your spot on the way and got 6 15inch saugers for eaters, released the Walleyes. Would post a pic or two but cant quite figure it out, what are the steps. looked at the FAQ but not much help, seems like you need a web site?December 7, 2003 at 12:04 am #284312Hey Hooker it was nice to meet you. Glad you found some walleyes.About posting pics: Your pic has to be under 100K if it’s over you have to resize. What I do is transfer my pics to a floppy disk(I save most of mine for memories during the real cold month or months). Then I come here and write up a little post. When done with that scroll down and put a check in the box that says I want to preview my post and/or attach a file. Click on continue. What I wrote comes back on and below that theres a line that says you may attach a file here, I make sure my floppy is in computer, click on the word browse and pics from floppy will be on screen. double click the photo you want, your post should reappear, click continue and that should be it. I hope I did’nt confuse you to much. There are other ways to do this and maybe someone can explain a better way, but this is how I do mine. If you need more help send me a private message. Take care…

December 7, 2003 at 12:39 pm #284341Hooker,
What times did you fish for the night bite? Also did you have to rig your boat with anything special (like spot lights)? And were you the only boat out there at night? I always wanted to try some later fishing but never have gotten around to it.

The headlamp seems to cover most problems, netting fish, tying jigs on etc. Have a Q-Beam for running the river and a small flourecent for getting set up. Have four rods tyed up, when I lose all four setups I retye. Did not really have to rig much just be a little more prepared for problems because they are magnified in the dark. Twilight till eight is when we fished with twilight to dark being the best but caught fish till eight just not as fast. Two other boats where out till six then just us, wing dams and riprap where the best, most fish came from one to five foot of water. Wind blowing sucks big time at nite! Hope this helps.December 7, 2003 at 10:58 pm #284378for digitals they all pretty much do well.. though they clearly get better by the year… usually MUCH better… so you really want the newest ones out instead of the oldest… lately Ive been recomending the Fuji s5000 to a lot of people… on line it can be had for just a bit over $300…. this brings you a 10x optical zoom if you decide you want to reach out there a ways for a pic… it also has a solid 3.2 MP which is plenty for printing up to my biggest print size (using an Epson 2200) known as A3 (13 x 19)….. though if you have desires to spend less, if you let me know what your shooting desires I should be able to come up with another recomendation… though its pretty tough to get much below 300 (say under 200!) and still have much quality….
