Nice fish! I was hoping for a new PB yet this spring also but had to go out of town for work. At least I’m in a great place to work South Padre Island. Spring Break Redfish Trout Going to do some wade fishing hopefully I have something to post soon!!!
Thanks for all the congrats It looks like it will be later in the week before I get a full report up, as I just HAVe to get back down fishing for the next couple days
A quick run-down, If your looking for big fish and big fish only think shallow (shoreline to 12′) and out of the current. Sand has been better than rocks the last couple days. Black or gold blades have caught the big fish for me, but ringworms have made a strong showing for numbers and a few bigger ones also. Natural colors have still been best but look for that to change soon as we start to get a little more color and flow soon.
Thats just a few tips for now and I will get a full report up soon.
Those were 2 pigs to see side by side in person congrats to the both of you!!!
Great job fellas!
Looks like I should have jumped in with you on sat Eric….
Jami
As always, good job and congrats. What a fish, or should I say, what a couple of good fishes-Jim’s was sweet as well.
Just a reminder to guys the little gem that BK (of all people to talk walleye) pointed out on an earlier thread-in shallow water these bigger fish are really prone to shy away from boat traffic, turn off or vacate the area. In other words, don’t run your boat over top of the snag sandbar and then expect to fish it! This goes for all the shallow sand areas as well. As Eric would agree, just important as a good blade rod, fireline and 50,000+ bladebaits in your boat would be a stealthy approach from the deep water side and a good anchor. The Skeeter boat does not hurt the deal as well.
Again, congrats to both of you.
Great fish guys!! Now my work week is going to seem even longer. I’ll be on the water up there sometime Friday.
