Have fished pool 2 the last three weekends. The bite has been pretty good! Putting a bunch of fairly decent size saugers in the boat. Best of all, I have had the opportunity to spend some time in my new winter beater with a couple of good fishermen from the board here. As Dee Zee reports, the airport area is a good place to start looking. Also found some fish just south of the 494 bridge. I will be spending more time south next time out.

Checked out the Prescott area yesterday. Found the bite to be slow at the confluence. Several boats working the area. Fish here and there….nothing to brag about. We switched from vertical jigging to trolling 3-way cranks. Picked up a few better fish pretty quick. Ran up the Croix for a couple hours and did not catch a thing. Ran down to the first wing dams in pool 3 for a quick check and did not get anything there.

A couple days in the boat sure makes for an enjoyable weekend. Not to mention that this great weather sure makes this December fly right on by.

Jon, did you work Prescott around sundown? That’s when they turn on for a brief period. Try the Vermillion if you get a chance. Otherwise, pick me up after work in your “Winter-beater”, and I’ll take you down there…

Chris, I may need to take you up on that offer. Thanks!

We were out during the day. Put in a bit before 8am and fished till 2pm. Looks like all of the docks are still in at Prescott. (The only one gone is Steamboats) Seems like a guy could just leave the boat at home and grab a pole, bucket of minnows and fish that area right off the docks. Seems like it would be pretty easy to get a few fish after work without too much hassle. Anyone out there doing that?

Fished Pool 3 and the Croix at Prescott for a few hours today. Started at the Hastings Dam about 2:00. Fished the north side until about 3:30. Took about half an hour to find any fish, they were really bunched up. Caught some small saugers at 26′, moved shallow and caught 3 nice eyes. Went out to 30-33′ and found a mess of small eyes. Go figure. Got up to Prescott about 3:45. Stayed until 5:00, never got bit. See you on Pool 4 Thursday!

    Jon,

The docks are hot in the spring, and can be productive now as well. I have seen people sitting on the fishing piers in Prescott with a bucket, and slip bobbers, and catching as many fish as I do! Right about dusk, they turn on pretty well.

Greatplains, did you get the Eyes over on the northern riprap?

Yes. There is some very distinct rip-rap over there. Different size rocks. Real nice cup in those rocks. The nice eyes were in that cup.
