Just a note to say that while fishing at the dam this morning with my nephew…..he caught a huge paddle fish! We have never caught one of these odd fish before and will probably never catch another, so it was quite memorable. Unfortunately we were unable to get it in the boat for a photo however we did have it alongside the boat for a short while and were able to get a good look at it. In addition the sauger fishing has been quite good and we have taken some eaters in recent weeks. I have been strictly using plastic however the minnow bite seems to be a little better at times. This morning was perfect for jigging & dragging, we were off the river before the high winds came up. If those winds would have been blowing in the morning we would have been on the lake trying to shag a mallard or two vs at the dam fishing. Lucky for us because we would not have had the paddle fish if the wind would have been blowing in the AM. Soon to start hitting pool 2!
