Now that Dean’s had this line available for a while, what is the consensus? I need to re-spool my Pool 2 rods and I don’t want to use to use the Berkley Sensation I have left if there’s something better out there.

How has the Cortland stuff worked out so far?

    Thanks guys

    Two thumbs up from me.

It’s a very supple line….good handling characteristics even with air temps in the teens.

Reasonably low memory…not too many birds nests even when it’s cold.

    Good knot strength.

Not too stretchy, like Sufix siege, but not too stiff.

I love the color. Very visible!

I’ll be running all Cortland by spring.

The Cortland is on the bottom of this row of reels. At the top is Trilene Sensation Solar, then Sufix elite hi-vis yellow, then Sufix Siege tangerine, and finally Cortland.

I have been very happy with it in cold temps, I’d say on par with the Sensation (which has been my pet line for years now). This is the first line for me to equal Sensation, I’d keep a rod spooled with the Sensation for your own comparison.

I give it two thumbs up also, and that is coming from a guy that swears by braid and does not think much of mono. If you use mono, I would defenitly give it a try.

I spooled up all my sticks with the Cortland Orange. Handles much better than most of the other braids I used in the past.

I used this line for my panfish rods in the winter. Its great for detecting line bites, or light biters on the panfish. I have not tried it for open water fishing so far…otherwise I give it

Last fall Eric and Dean were fishing the flats just above my boat. At dusk I was amazed at the brite orange line I was seeing from Deans casts (from 40-50 yds away)
I liked what I saw, and later Dean said was very pleased with its qualities, so ordered a spool from Dean…it looks and feels great…spooled up as even as Sufix Elite.
I will have it on my pitching rod next month…

I know that none of the larger jobber distributors that I work with carry it.That would make it unlikely to see it in a large box store. But it is even getting difficult to find HI-Vis Sensation just anywhere as well.I guess that is why I have been mailing out quite a bit of line as of late.

Dean,do you carry it in bulk and what weight would you suggest for the river, jigging and dragging?

Dean does carry it in bulk as well as in filler spools.

I’ve been using 6 and 8 lb test….8 for pitching and dragging, 6 for vertical. I’m sure that 6 would work for dragging, but it would probably result in a few more break-offs along rip-rap areas.

The line is $8.99/spool.As Jason mentioned, we also have it in bulk. Shipping is minimal, under $2 or so is my guess, depending on how many & what else gets put in the package.

    We carry 4#,6#,8#,10#,& 15# filler spools.4#,6#,& 8# in hi-vis bulk.

Thanks. I tried the HiVis Yellow last year to replace the old Trilene HiVis XT. Love it

I like what I have read, I spooled up this year, but I have not had chance to try it yet, I do trust Jason and Deans advice. I really like the color.

Dean can ship it to you, he is the fastest shipper in the business , dont forget the jigs and plastics to.

Can a hi-vis line like this be used on a live bait rigging rod as the main line or should it a clear line?

Sure…that would work fine. Hi-vis main line and lo-vis or fluoro leader running to the hook.

    You’re looking for me, right?

It’s Cortland Hi-vis orange. That’s what Dean is carrying in bulk, and that’s what I now have on 6 of my 12 spinning outfits. A few more trips to Everts and I’ll have them all converted.

I have used the Trilene XT 4# HiVis Green for many years before they discontinued it. Live bait in ultra clear water tied direct / NO Leader material. It never had a negative impact on fish. Everything from bass, crappies, gills, $ walleye.
