Kind of a new technique for me. A Dubuque rig. Combo ringies and minnows. It was weird. We caught about 80 fish that day. They were hot for the ringies then they would shut off and go for the meat. I learn something new everytime I fish with that guy.

My partner and I caught 80 fish that day. 74 went back. I’m not apologizing.

    Steve,

Sounds like you and Turk had a great day on the River. I had the pleasure of sharing his boat on the St Croix last year. What size jig did you use on the drop and were you using a floater or plain hook?

Turk does have one flaw………he is a Viking fan. ]

    Go Pack

    Tom,

I really like everything about the guy except his affinity to like a certain Purple football team. I do respect the fact that he has remained loyal to them.

Great day. 3/8 oz jig and plain hook.

    I agree. Go Pack!

Say about the hat…what is that lamb….wool…cheese…
I really think you need to add some fur to your head…
Congradulations on Pool 4 it is the best…

    Vandy,
saw you out there that day. Love the hat and double rod thing you had going on. Snap, Fish on!!!
    Dude,
that fur version was a little expensive for my blood. It was the “Mad Bomber” just an economy version.
The material is actually a derivative of processed cheese.
Not only keeps you warm but also a healthy snack food.

Nice fish Steve. By the way, the hat looks great. We also fished pool 4 this past weekend and had pretty decent action as well. Most of our fish were saugers. Did catch a few walleyes, with the biggest going 17″. We caught our fish up near the dam in approx. 20′ of water. Fish bit on almost everything we put in the water – plastics, jigging raps, & bladebaits. We, however, caught most of the fish on blades (Zip Lures). The bigger fish also seemed to want to want the Zips (for us anyways). Attached is a photo of Luke (Horseshoe) Kersten holding our two best saugers.

    coot,
Of the 6 fish we kept, 2 were walleye. One 17″ and a 16″. Those 2 fish in the picture went back in. Can you believe how fat they are? Healthy fish. We bought sonars but never used them.

Unbelievable how fat those fish are. They sure have had a good year to gorge themselves on all the shad in the system. I could not believe the massive schools of shad this summer that a person would mark while fishing on Pepin. I normally don’t keep many fish, but we did keep three for a meal for my parents. While cleaning our fish, it was incredible the fat reserve that they had!
