Hey Dustin… your big fish was such a great fish… I thought I would work on the pic just a bit and make it a bit better… if you would like to print it send me the original and I can really make it shine…. Im thinking of trying this as a fishing biz… fixing, printing and framing fishing pix… with you guys catching all these beauts there HAS to be a market dont there?
In the below, with a bit more time I could really bring your face out… you flash was underpowered and too direct, so it burnt the fish a bit and shaded you… but it can be fixed in post processing, and over the last year Ive learned alot, by entering photo contests… Im getting better and better all the time….

heres the original so you can see if I made it any better or not….. with a bit more time I could bring out Dustins face more (but for our crowd here I decided against it! ) and I could eliminate the walleyes redeye…. reduce the glare from the flash…. and generally balance it out a bit using histograms… what I did was remove noise from the shot, clarified and applied unsharp mask along with a bit of fade correction…….

Dustin and James are 2 of the best at taking fish pix, but shot taken near and after dark are really tough without better cameras and flashes…… so you have to fix them up in post processing (or PP in camera head lingo)….

I know this one guy that could take a nice pic like that and put it on a coffee mug, mousepad, t-shirt,……..whatever you would like.

    Hey Ken
I think you should put a mask on that guy holding the fish…
And I like the red eye…it makes it look like the devil eye thats roaming the river.

Hey Tom I like your idea of making Dustin into a mouse pad…

Ken great job with all the photos man I wished I had the knowledge to do all that.
    Good job keep it up.

    Hey Bunny hat!..
good to hear (ear?) from ya!… and thanks for the thoughts… I tried putting a mask on him… but it made Dust look like a raccoon… and I thought one animal head around here is enough!… so I did do a bit more work on it… sadly I took out the demon eye of the fish… and the falsh burns too… and perhaps even more sadly I brought Dust’s face out a bit by lightening it selectively……. and heres the result….. but fear not… I CAN do funny things to photos too…. as Im sure the future will show…..
