Spent the weekend on the river The walleyes and saugers were on the bite real good on Friday with a slight drop on Saturday and Sunday. We did catch some very nice 20 inch saugers and a number of 22 inch walleyes. The better saugers were coming from 25-30 ft depths while the nicer walleyes were 12-20 ft. Caught fish on everything from Ringies, K-grubs, Superdoos, to hairjigs tipped with large minnows. We did catch a number of large flatheads, 20-35 lbs. We did bring some nice eaters home and tried to make sure and put all of the females back. No piggies on this trip, but that’s what keeps you coming back. Fishing the Redwing area is always a pleasure. I look forward to another trip in the near future.

Why are you guys from Iowa coming way up here to fish?? Wouldn’t it be closer to fish the river down in Iowa? Aren’t there any fish in iowa?

Dark colors were the ticket. Black, blue, dark green, but we did catch some on chartuese.

Actually Redwing is only 20 minutes further than Guttenberg or Dubuque and the fishing is much better. The fishing is okay in Iowa, but has been down since the flood of ’93.

you should not give them Iowa people such a hard time the real ones are the north dakota remember they raised their fees and kicked out of state hunters out for the first two weeks of a hunt meaning phesant and duck hunters wont have the same chance as a local person

Thanx fletch! What does it matter any way? We buy our license, bait, and food in MN.That generates revenue for your state! And yes we are deprived of quality fishing in our state, thank god for MN and its quest for A-1 top notch fishing!
