I hit the water with fellow IDO’er Wingdam1 today , the bite was very slow for us in the morning hours. We kept plugging away, spot after spot until the fish finaly started to cooperate . I don’t know for sure what the count was but 15 or 16 is pretty close. All fish came on ringworms worked on fronts of dams. The water temp was 34 degrees this morning , it seemed that once the sun got high in the sky it warmed the water some and they started to bite. The water has cleaned up since my last outing that can only help. I want to thank Wingdam1 for a great day on the water. Here is a pic of him with a nice eye.

I was also there this Friday caught some Quality fish myself. What bothers me is the BLATEND Poachers by the Dam…The state of Iowa should be ashamed of its self. Short Walleyes over limits..
Dec 1st can’t come SOON enough..Can’t these people see the slot and restrictions WORK………..

not only do they keep the illegal small eyes, i know a couple that keep slot fish tooo. they dont give a rats about the regulations. they are there to fill there buckets or live wells with as many as possible. the dnr is more worried about someone having a extra canadian duck or goose then our local walleyes. besides they don’t have enough dnr people to cover fishing waters during any hunting seasons. need more people to step up with there cell phones and report them before they get off the water. i understand that if u get caught with one wild goose over ur limit its $400+. why not do this for our local eyes. that walleye is alot better eating than that wild goose or duck. on another point, does anyone know about a 14# walleye being caught in the maquoketa river the last weekend. i understand it was in a cedar rapids paper or radio/tv station. a friend of mine from cedar rapids told me today. asking him to send me the web site to back this up. thats a amazing fish for that river.

I have not fished at the dam once this year, but in the past I have witnessed the keeping of shorts and over limits. These are the same type of people that bow hunt from trucks with rifles and consider themselves as “great hunters” because they shot the biggest buck in town. POACHING IS POACHING whether its to many fish or to many ducks. If you see this activity pick up the phone and turn them in. If you can’t tell by the pictures of the fish I have been posting the slot is working. I remember not to long ago if you caught a five pound fish in a season you were doing good . Now if we don’t get a few of them in a day it is a slow day. If you need the TIP hotline # here it is 1-877-236-7529.
