Had the opportunity to share my boat today with fellow IDO member Tom P. Trying to share with him a bit different tactic on picking up #’s of fish.Running multiple rigs 3-waying can be a challenge, especially in rolling current,as well a firedrill in the boat when you get multiple fish on at any 1 time. After figuring out the current flow & a couple re-rigs we found some fish that were more than willing to cooperate with our technique,or should I say the method to my madness. There didnt seem to be any 1 size or color of lure that really excelled over others,as we caught fish on most everything we explored with. From # 7-11 stickbaits along with the bentlipped shad all producing fish.I might think the brighter colors may have out performed the neutral tones, but we ran more of the bright colors than the others making up the difference. We pulled 3-ways for around 5hrs catching I would say around 30+ fish. With a mix of Sauger & Walleye along with 2,8-10lb Snot rockets (Pike) 1 of which made away with a lure. Average size fish being in the 16″-17″ variety with a few Sumo Saugers CPR’d to keep this fishery sustained & hopefully caught again another day. The fish seem to be biting on most pools of the mighty Mississip. Just figuring out which pool I might be heading to next ? Best of luck fishing all. WHITE TIP

Dean he seemed to be well versed in the techniques we tried. He has had some very good instruction from alot of good teachers. The main technique I figured he must have learned from you was the coffee spilling technique! Here I thought I was best at teaching this method. Tom it was a pleasure to have you on board & hope we can get together again soon.Running my day a bit off schedule, wanting to get out earlier. I’m taking my boys out now for a fishin expedition. Hoping to put a couple big grins on their faces. Best of luck fishing all. WHITE TIP

Guess I might be somewhat deserving of that comment!

Dean allthough I have never had the fine opportunity to slop coffee in the boat with you, that seems to be one of my main strong points. Im thinking a visit to P4 testing the waters (sloppin coffee)is in the near future,as I have the week off. P5 wasnt quite as productive for numbers today(Sun) ,allthough the fish caught were running a bit bigger.Switched it up today having lures of a bit larger variety out. Fished for about 4 hours picking up about 15 total & only 2 were under 15″. Nothing huge but 18″-20″ Fat & sassy saugers put a couple on the kids faces.CPR’d to catch again another day hopefully making it on to the spring spawning cycle.Pulling 3-way rigs is not necessarily a big fish method. But can make up the difference by putting #’s of decent fish in the boat.I find it effective also being an aid by covering new to me waters.Taking mental notes & dropping waypoints or Icons as I go.
